This small summer show at Danziger Projects has a number of interesting prints, including some blown up inkjet prints by Chuck Close from daguerreotypes of grapes. The scene stealer for this reviewer, however, was the large, newly printed, platinum/palladium print of a classic by George Tice, “Petite’s Mobil Station, Cherry Hill, New Jersey”. The ‘heavenly body’ in this case is the huge water tank hanging in the sky next to the station. An image that was always meant to be a palladium print, its gorgeous blacks and intermediate tones coming through as in no other print I have seen. Certainly worth a peak if you find yourself on West 24th Street (it’s just inside the door!)
